PEAR AND CACAO SMOOTHIE

A natural, chocolatey, velvety, delight!

Here’s a lip-smacking sweet treat for your little one without the nasties. Cacao powder gives the taste of chocolate without any added sugar or fat, plus provides a rich source of protein, fibre, magnesium and iron. Blended with pear, avocado, and banana, and you've got the glossiest, creamiest and yummiest smoothie. One that’ll fill them up with vitamins and nutrients galore!  

Naturally vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and sugar free. Serve this smoothie as a delicious start to the day, or as a guilt-free treat or pudding!

 

SMOOTHIE INGREDIENTS 

(makes 1 serving)

  • Banana, half of
  • Avocado, ¼ (or sub another half of the banana)
  • Pear, ripe, cored and peeled, half of
  • Hemp seeds, 1 tsp
  • (optional) Cinnamon, ¼ tsp
  • (optional) Vanilla bean powder or paste, ¼ tsp
  • Cacao powder, unsweetened, ½ to 1 tsp
  • Almond milk, ½ - ¾ cup, depending on desired consistency

 

METHOD

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Transfer to a glass, optionally decorate with a sprinkle of hemp seeds, and serve.

 

PUREÉ INGREDIENTS

(makes 1 serving)

  • Banana, half of
  • Avocado, ¼ (or sub another half of the banana)
  • Pear, ripe, cored and peeled, half of
  • Hemp seeds, 1 tsp
  • (optional) Cinnamon, ¼ tsp
  • (optional) Vanilla bean powder or paste, ¼ tsp
  • Cacao powder, unsweetened, ½ to 1 tsp

 

METHOD

  1. Blend all ingredients into a smooth mousse using either an immersion blender or a small cup of a standing blender.
  2. Transfer to a cup or bowl, optionally decorate with hemp seeds and/or chopped banana, and serve.
