STRAWBERRY AND VANILLA SMOOTHIE

WOW! It tastes just like strawberry and vanilla ice cream!

This smoothie is a classic flavour combo that is sure to delight your little one’s taste buds time and time again. The blend of Greek yoghurt, ripe fruits and natural vanilla bean powder, creates a deliciously smooth ice cream like treat! Plus, the strawberries and banana make it a super rich source of vitamins, fibre and antioxidants for your growing babe. 

It's a go-to sweet treat hidden with all the good stuff!  

 

SMOOTHIE INGREDIENTS 

(makes 1 serving)

  • Porridge oats, 2 tbsp (+ 4 tbsp hot water)
  • Strawberries, fresh or frozen, 4-5, depending on size
  • Banana, half of
  • Hemp seeds, 1 tsp
  • Low fat Greek yogurt (or coconut yogurt alternative), 2 tbsp
  • (optional) Vanilla bean powder, a pinch
  • Rice milk, ¼ to ½ cup

 

METHOD

  1. Add porridge oats and hot water to a small bowl, let soak for about 10 minutes or until all liquid is absorbed.
  2. Add soaked oats and all remaining ingredients to a blender. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  3. Pour into a cup, optionally decorate with a sprinkle of hemp seeds and serve.

 

PUREÉ INGREDIENTS

(makes 1 serving)

  • Porridge oats, 2 tbsp (+ 4 tbsp hot water)
  • Strawberries, fresh or frozen, 4-5, depending on size
  • Banana, ⅓
  • Hemp seeds, 1 tsp
  • Low fat Greek yogurt (or coconut yogurt alternative), 2 tbsp
  • (optional) Vanilla bean powder, a pinch

 

METHOD

  1. Add porridge oats and hot water to a small bowl, let soak for about 10 minutes or until all liquid is absorbed.
  2. Blend soaked oats along with all remaining ingredients into a smooth cream, using an immersion blender.
  3. Transfer to a cup, top with pieces of fresh strawberry and banana and a sprinkle of hemp seeds.
